BLUEJAY SOFTBALL TEAM SPLITS TWIN BILL WITH MARIAN ELMHURST, ILL., April 16, 2004--The Elmhurst College softball team improved to 11-16-1 overall after splitting a non-conference doubleheader at Marian College. The Bluejays dropped game one 2-0 but bounced back to win game two 6-1. MARIAN 2, ELMHURST 0 (Game One)- The Bluejay bats were held silent as Elmhurst was limited to just three hits over seven innings. Jennifer Cromer (Caarol Stream-Glenbard North) baned out two of the three hits for Elmhurst. Jessica Kalal (Lisle-H.S.) took the loss for Elmhurst. She pitched five nnings and allowed just three hits and one earned run. She walked a batter and struck out two. ELMHURST 6, MARIAN 1 (Game Two)- The Bluejays rebounded to earn the doubleheader split by taking game two 6-1. Danille White (Bolingbrook-Naperville Central) led the offense with a 2-for-3 day at the plate. She scored a run while also driving in three runs. Christy Gorecki (Oak Forest-Richards) also had two hits and scored a pair of runs. Katie Gervase (Glen Ellyn-Glenbard West) earned the win for the Bluejays. Gervase pitched seven innings, allowing just five hits and an earned run. She walked just one batter and fanned seven in the Bluejay win. |
