BLUEJAY SOFTBALL TEAM DROPS TWO TO AURORA ELMHURST, ILL., April 26, 2004--The Elmhurst College softball team dropped to 13-20-1 overall after falling in both ends of a doubleheader to Aurora University. The Bluejays dropped game one 3-0 and fell in game two 3-2 in nine innings. AURORA 3, ELMHURST 0 (Game One)- The Bluejay managed just five hits in the loss as they were kept off the score board in a 3-0 loss. Jessica Kalal (Lisle-H.S.) dropped to 5-7 overall after taking the loss. She pitched four innings and allowed three runs on three hits. AURORA 3, ELMHURST 2 (Game Two)- The Bluejays jumped out to a 2-0 lead but were unable to hold off Aurora and fell in nine innings by a final score of 3-2. RBI singles from Katie Gervase (Glen Ellyn-Glenbard West) and Jill Kroll (Palos Park-Stagg) gave the Bluejays a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Aurora scored a run in the fifth to cut the lead to 2-1. An unearned run in the sevent inning tied the score and forced exta innings. In the ninth, Aurora loaded the bases with three straight singles and scored the winning run in walk-off fashion on the sixth error of the game by the Bluejays. Gervase took the loss, dropping to 5-10 overall. She allowed 10 hits and just one earned run in 8.1 innings. She struck out five batters while not issuing a walk. |
