BLUEJAY SOFTBALL TEAM CLOSES 2004 SEASON WITH A DOUBLEHEADER LOSS
TO TRINITY CHRISTIAN ELMHURST, ILL., April 28, 2004--The Elmhurst College softball team closed out the 2004 season with a 15-22-1 overall record after dropping a doubleheader to Trinity Christian College. The Bluejays dropped game one 8-2 and were blanked in the second game 2-0. TRINITY CHRISTIAN 8, ELMHURST 2 (Game One)- Trinity Chrisitain used a pair of two-run homers to get past the Bluejays in game one. The Trolls started the scoring in the third inning with a two run blast from Michelle Cooke of Bluejay starter Jessica Kalal (Lisle-H.S.). Trinity would add another run in the fourth to go up 3-0. The Bluejays got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning when they scored a pair of unearned runs on a Trinity miscue in the outfield. Elmhurst trailed 3-2 at that point. Trinity put the game game out of reach in the fifth inning when the plated five runs with four hits and two Elmhurst errors. The Bluejays were limited to just two hits in the contest. Jill Kroll (Palos Park-Stagg) and Danielle White (Bolingbrook-Naperville Central) each had a hit in the loss. Kalal took the loss for the Bluejays, allowing two earned runs on five hits over four innings. She did not walk a batter and struck out three. White finished the game for Elmhurst, pitching two innings and allowing five hits and three earned runs while fanning three batters. TRINITY CHRISTIAN 2, ELMHURST 0 (Game Two)- The Bluejays managed just five hits on the day en route to the 2-0 shut out loss. Katie Gervase (Glen Ellyn-Glenbard West) and Hillary Pietrucha (Orland Hills-Andrew) each had two hits in the loss. Gervase was the hard-luck loser in the circle for the Bluejays. She pitched five and a third innings, scattering seven hits and allowing just two earned runs in the process. She fanned three while not issuing a walk. |
