INDOOR TRACK TEAMS RUN AT CHICAGOLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS February 21, 2004 - The men's and women's indoor track teams returned to action this week by competing at the Chicagoland Championships at Lewis University. The women's team placed 12th with 10 points while the men's team finished 11th with 24 points. Erin Brice (Elk Grove Village-Elk Grove) paced the women's team with a second-place finish in the 5,000 meters (18:50.32) while Krista Phelps (LaCrosse, Wis.-Central) placed seventh in the mile run with a time of 5:24.82. On the men's side, John Hartmann (Woodruff, Wis.-Wauconda) highlighted the meet by winning the high jump with a mark of 1.98 meters. Other top finishers included Cedric Jones (Grand Prairie, Texas-Sam Houston) placing second in the 55 meters with a time of 6.54 seconds. Craig Tiede (Woodridge-Downers Grove South) added a sixth-place finish in the 3,000 meters (8:48.25) while Justin Stevens (Springfield-Auburn) finished just behind in the same event, crossing the line in eighth place with a time of 8:57.13 The Bluejays will run this weekend at the CCIW Indoor Championships in Kenosha, Wis. |
