INDOOR TRACK TEAMS PLACE EIGHTH AT CCIW CHAMPIONSHIPS

   February 28, 2004 - The men's and women's indoor track teams both place eighth at the CCIW Championships at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. The women's team scored 17 points while the men's team finished with 27 points.

Erin Brice (Elk Grove Village-Elk Grove) placed second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:23.39 while Krista Phelps (LaCrosse, Wis.-Central) finished right behind in third place in 18:25.78. Phelps added a seventh place finish in the 1,500 meters in 5:06.70

On the men's side, John Hartmann (Woodruff, Wis.-Wauconda) and Cedric Jones (Grand Prairie, Texas-Sam Houston) placing each scored a second place finish. Hartmann cleared a height of 6-6 3/4 to place second in the high jump. Jones narrowly missed a CCIW title in the 55 meters, placing second by only a hundreth of a second with a time of 6.57 seconds. Craig Tiede (Woodridge-Downers Grove South) added a sixth-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:15.53.
