TWO BLUEJAYS TO COMPETE AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

   May 27, 2004- Elmhurst College's Erin Brice (Elk Grove Village-Elk Grove) and John Hartmann (Woodruff, Wis.-Wauconda) are both competing this weekend at the NCAA Championships at Millikin University in Decatur.

Brice, a provisional qualifier in the 10,000 meters will run on Thursday, May 27 while Hartmann, a provisional qualifier in the high jump will compete on Friday, May 28.

UPDATE--Erin Brice fell just shy of her bid to earn All-American honors. Brice, needing a top-eight finish to earn All-America accolades, finished the distance race in ninth place with an overall time of 37:57.43.

SUNY-Geneseo's Rennie Catalano overtook Brice on the race's final lap to place eighth, crossing the finish line just 3.4 seconds in front of Brice.

UPDATE - John Hartmann placed 15th in the men's high jump competition. Hartmann cleared a height of 6-5. Dan Olson of Wheaton College (Mass.) outjumped the rest of the competition to win the title, clearing a height of 7-1.
