BLUEJAYS QUIET THUNDER IN 3-0 WIN OVER WHEATON

ELMHURST, ILL., October 14, 2003-- The Elmhurst College volleyball team returned to their winning ways in CCIW competition by silencing the Wheaton College Thunder 30-23, 30-13, 30-18 on senior night at R.A. Faganel Hall.

The Bluejays jumped out to a lead midway through the first game and never looked back. The Bluejays started game two on a 4-0 run and then strung together five straight points minutes later to take a commanding 13-4 lead. Game three also saw the Bluejays jump out to a 4-0 lead and then run away with the victory by winning eight of the final 10 points.

Nicole Carlson (Forreston-H.S.) Led the Bluejays with 11 kills and 14 digs while Carly Bearwald (Northbrook-Glenbrook North) pounded down 12 kills and tallied three blocks. Lisa Denman turned in a seven-kill, 20-dig performance. Regina Morrone (Orland Park-A.A. Stagg) led the team in assists with 24 while Christy Barone (Addison-Addison Trail) totaled 19 assists and led the team with four aces.

Elmhurst (18-9, 4-2 CCIW) will host the Elmhurst College Invitational this weekend (October 17-18) at R.A. Faganel Hall.
