    ELMHURST, Ill., September 4-- The Elmhurst College men'scross country team kicked off the 2004 season with a third place finish at the North Central College Invitational. The Bluejays placed third with 100 points. The Bluejay women's team finished with 198 points, good for eighth place. Freshman Marisa Mele (Naperville-Nequa Valley) was the top college runner, finishing second overall with a time of 23:07.

On the men's side, Mark Heintz (Sycamore-H.S.) finished fifth overall with a time of 26:16. Mike Glosson checked in in 18th place with a time of 27:09. Mike Ptack (Oak Park/Oak Park-River Forest) finished 20th with a time of 27:11. Justin Stevens (Springfield-Auburn) finished right behind in 21st place with a time of 27:13. Drew Hatzold (Itasca-Lake Park) finished in 44th place in 28:18 to complete the Bluejay socring.

On the women's side, Mele paced the collegiate runners with a blistering time of 23:07. Ashley Brown (Wheaton-Glenbard South) finished in 11th place (24:20) while Katherine Baker (Loves Park-Harlem) finished in 67th place (27:09). Angie Phillips (Big Rock-Sandwich) was just behind Baker in 68yh place (27:17) while Emily Mills (St. Joseph/St. Joseph-Ogden) finished in 137th place with a time of 31:37.
