MEN'S TEAM THIRD; WOMEN'S TEAM HAS INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS AT UW-WHITEWATER INVITE

    ELMHURST, Ill., September 18-- The Elmhurst College men's cross country team placed third at the UW-Whitwater Invitational with a total of 67 points, just four points shy of second place Washington University. The University of Chicago won the event with a score of 46.

Mark Heintz (Sycamore-H.S.) paced the men's team with a third place overall finish (26:18). Justin Stevens (Springfield-Auburn) finished 10th (26:42.38) while Mike Glosson (Aurora-Aurora Central Catholic) finished just behind in 11th place in 26:50.9. Mike Ptack (Oak Park/Oak Park-River Forest) placed 13th in 26:59.52 while Steve Kapton (Oswego-H.S.) finished the scoring with a 38th place finish (28:18.51).

On the women's side, freshman Marisa Mele (Naperville-Neuqua Valley) placed fourth overall in 18:54.44. Ashley Brown (Wheaton-Glenbard South) placed eighth overall in 19:25.77. Katherine Baker (Loves Park-Harlem) placed 46th (21:25.55) while Angie Phillips (Big Rock-Sandwich) placed 47th in 21:25.89.
