A Web Storybase--a collection of stories about web use from researchers at Virginia Tech.

Building Quality Web Resources--a directory of technical and design resources on web production, service, and maintenance (compiled by Andrew Ciolek).

Yale C/AIM Style Manual--a comprehensive and authoritative guide to web design, including interface design, page and site design, graphics and multimedia.  Includes an annotated bibliography.

User Interface Design for Sun's WWW Site--Sun Microsystems' practical discussion of web design and usability.   Includes a useful link to a summary of research on web readability (Reading on the Web).

HTML Guides

Beginner's Guide to HTML--a three-part primer on HTML published by NCSA in both online and printable versions.

How To Use Meta Tags--a primer on how the proper use of meta tags can boost a site's visibility.

HTML Home Page--a primer on HTML 4.0 from W3C (the World Wide Web Consortium), the folks responsible for global web standardization.
