It is also possible to obtain a chemistry major with ACS aproval with some additional coursework.

Major in Chemistry With ACS Approval

The department is approved by the American Chemical Society Committee on Professional Training. For a student to receive an ACS approved degree, the student must complete the following requirements.

Requirements for ACS Major:
  • Chemistry CORE curriculum (see above)
  • CHM 422-427: Chemical Instrumentation
  • CHM 432: Advanced Inorganic Chemistry
  • Any two courses from the following:
    • Chemistry courses with CHM 412 prerequisite
    • Advanced physics with Calculus II prerequisite
    • Advanced math with Calculus II prerequisite
