The Department of Chemistry offers a Major in Chemistry with a Concentration in Biochemistry designed for students intending to pursue careers in medicine and other health-related areas. This is is an interdisciplinary course of study that combines the core curriculum of a the chemistry major with additional specialization in Biochemistry and Biology. Chemistry majors nationwide have a higher than average acceptance rate to medical schools.

The Center for the Health Professions offers a variety of services to students interested in the health professions. These include professional school admission advising, shadowing and clinical experiences, seminars, career couseling, affiliation programs and other opportunities. Students are encouraged to begin working with CHP early in their Elmhurst program.
