Minutes for Faculty Development Committee  
Meeting #2/2001-2002         October 4, 2001

Present:  M. Baehr, L. Carroll, A. Das, H. Hall, S. LaMorte, H. Noice, E. Swallow, 
S. Swords Steffen

 Meeting was called to order at 1:06 pm.

 Minutes of 9/20/01 were approved with minor corrections.

E. Swallow anounced that FDC webpage for 2001-2002 is being updated.  All members of this
committee should check personal information for accuracy on the webpage.

E. Swallow announced that the Chavez lecture (at 7:00 on 10/4/01 in Founders
Lounge) Reception is at 4:30-5:15 pm today at Diversity Education house.

 E. Swallow announced that the Travel Grant Requests and Midwest Faculty
 Seminar information were sent to all full-time and part-time faculty early this week.

 There was discussion about the flyer for the International Education
 Grants.  Committee members will send suggestions to E. Swallow for improved
 wording so it is clear that the intent of the grants is to improve education
 of students at Elmhurst around International issues.

 S. LaMorte requested suggestions for disseminating the hugh amount of
 information he receives on grants and fellowships.  It was decided that he
 will create an email every two weeks with brief information and URL links to
 send to all faculty.  In the faculty lounge there will be a notebook
 organized by deadline dates and divisional interest with information as well.

 E. Swallow reissued his draft of "Some Elements of an 'Ideal' Faculty
 Development Program from Elmhurst College, 3/27/01."  He requested that
 committee members send suggested improvements via email so the list can move
 from draft at the next meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:55 pm.  The next meeting will be from 
1:00 pm-2:00 or 2:30 pm on Thursday, October 18 in the 1871 Room of the Frick Center.
