Minutes of FDC meeting 3S on March 22, 2002   
               1871 Room of the Frick Center.
  
  In attendance: Larry Carroll, Andrew Das, Bill Hirstein, Helga Noice, Earl Swallow
  
  Andrew reported that the tapes of the final two interviews for the President's award for
  excellence in teaching are defective.  Possible remedies for the situation were discussed,
  and those present at the different interview related their impressions of how the different
  candidates compared.  No decision was reached on who to give the award to.
  
  Earl said that he will mail the summer research grant proposals to members of the
  committee for judging.  Committee members who submitted proposals recused
  themselves from the judging process, and will not be sent any of the proposals.
  
  Ways in which the Faculty Development Committee might assist the Faculty
  Development and Technology Work Group in integrating technology into teaching
  were discussed.  
  
  Finally, there was discussion about ways in which the FDC might work to produce a
  more unified and explicit faculty development program which all new faculty would
  participate in.
