Linking Your Pages To Other PagesNear
and Far
You can link your own pages to each other, or to pages
anywhere on the Internet. You use the same basic operation no
matter where the other page is.
Step-By-Step Method for Creating Links
- Select (highlight with cursor) the text you want to link
to another page.
- Click the Link button on your toolbar.
- You will see the Link Properties dialog box. Under
"Link to page location or local file," you
specify the location you want to link to.
- If you are linking to another page of your own
(such as linking your index page to your syllabus
page), click on Choose File. Find the correct
file, then highlight it and click Open. When the
Link Properties dialog box reappears, click OK.
- If you are linking to a URL outside of your own
pages, be sure to get the location address
exactly right. Go out on the web to that
location, copy the address, and paste it in the
Link Properties dialog box.
- Click OK. Your link should appear in blue, underlined, in
your page.
Shortcut Method for Creating Links
You can create a link by dragging and dropping from other
windows. For example, you can highlight a link on an existing web
page and drag and drop it anywhere on your page. (To do this, you
will need to resize your program windows so that more than one
window is visible on your screen.)
