I love Hispanic Culture: the people, their art, cuisine, literature, music, even the geography, both of Spain and Latin America. I have worked, studied and traveled throughout the Spanish-speaking world for three decades, as a student at UNAM in Mexico City, as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Chile, as assistant director of the UIUC Year Abroad Program in Barcelona, Spain, and as a professor at Elmhurst College. Every two or three years since I came to Elmhurst College in 1974, I have taken Elmhurst College students for travel-study in Spain, Mexico or Costa Rica.

I am proud to have served as College Marshal at Elmhurst for over a decade. The role is an honorary one in which I represented the faculty at ceremonial occasions such as convocations, baccalaureate and commencement.

The Midway Ramblers Cajun Band
"Louisiana French Music in Chicago"

What do foreign language teachers do in their spare time? My family has a Cajun band which performs for schools, community and professional organizations. In the summers we also have a number of concert and festival gigs. The Cajun band allows us to combine our interests in foreign languages, in music, and in the rich diversity of cultures in the United States. "Allons à Lafayette!"
