This is a meadow where we began a short hike to a small lake.
The fireweed was really gorgeous.
The mosquitoes were not so wonderful.
On the way up to the Harding Ice Field.
No bears.
(yet)
Still having fun :-) !
Sorry, no picture of the big bear. We were too
busy making lots of noise and trying to look big.
At the top, by the edge of the Harding Ice Field.
This is looking back down over Exit Glacier and the valley.
Now, only if our car was not all the way back down there.....
Brad by the shore of Kenai Lake. This was a very nice place to camp.
Next time, we'll bring one of those rubber rafts with oars.
Brad (again). Still by the shore of Kenai Lake.
He looks so happy because (pick one):
My mother's response to me going camping in Alaska:
"You're going to sleep on the ground?"
"No, mom, in a tent."
"Yes, but still, you are going to sleep on the ground?"
"No, mom, in a sleeping bag."
"Yes, but still, you are going to sleep on the ground?"
"No, we have these camping rolls. They inflate."
"Yes, but you don't understand what I mean. *You* are going to do this. *You* are going to sleep in a tent."
(Oh, that's right. I hate camping. I guess I forgot. :-) )
I think she believes this was someone else's tent and I really stayed in
B&B's the whole time.
Not a bad place to have breakfast, if you ask me.
This was on the shore of Portage Lake, formed from the melting of Portage Glacier.
This is not Alaska. This is Brad's cat, Sam.
We don't know how she felt about Brad going to Alaska for two weeks, but
we can guess.
