Editing Existing Pages If you are working with a template or have a page that has been converted from a word processor document to the HTML format, then you will need to edit those pages. The following procedure is set up as an example for editing the first template index.html page. The simple editing is done in a program which is part of Netscape called Page Composer. It can be confusing to switch back and forth between the Navigator and the Composer. Always look at the titles on the top of the page to see whether you are in Navigator or Composer. You can not edit anything while you are in the Navigator. Windows 1. Open Netscape program if it is not already open. 2. Choose Open Page from the File Menu. 3. A dialog box will pop up. Click on the round radio button next to Composer. ****If you are already in Page Composer, just click the "Open page" icon on the tool bar. 4. Now click the Choose file button. 5. Put your Portfolio disk in the disk drive and select it.
6. Click on the file you want to open such as index.html. 7. Click the Open button. 8. Double check that you have selected the radio button next to "Composer" and then click Open. You are now in the Composer part of the Netscape program. If you've opened your page but you can't edit it, choose "Edit Page" from the File Menu. Editing the Page Now you are ready to edit the page. Change your name and give any personal information about yourself that you wish the rest of the world to know. As a caution, you may not want to post any phone numbers, addresses, etc. You may also make links from this page to other pages. See a separate set of directions on making links for this feature.
