Enhancing Pages

Adding Color

Adding color is a simple, effective way of adding visual interest to your Portfolio. The three main types of color you can add are background color, text color, and link color. Try not to get too wild or crazy on this as some backgrounds are too dark to effectively see the text. Also try to be fairly uniform in your pages so that every page is similar rather than very different as this tends to lose continuity.

To add colors to text, links, and the background:

1. Open the page you want to edit with Page Composer.

2. Choose "Page Colors and Properties" from the Format Menu.

3. Click on the Colors and Background tab.

4. Click the "Use Custom Colors" radio button.

5. Click on the colored squares next to "Normal Text," "Link Text," "Active Link Text," "Followed Link Text," and "Background." A palette (Win.) or color wheel (Mac.) will appear; select a color by clicking on it. (You can lighten the colors on the color wheel by using the slider bar on the right.)

6. --OR-- Try selecting a "color scheme or crayons" from the menu near the example text.

7. Click "OK" to set the colors for the page.

To change the color of specific words (Note: this will not work for links):

a. Highlight the word.

b. Click the arrow next to the colored square on the text formatting button bar.

c. Choose a color and click "OK" if necessary.

Adding Images

There are two steps to adding images to your page.

1. Copy images from the Web and save them on your disk

2. Placing the image on the page

Note: Don't steal copyrighted images from the Web. All logos, cartoon characters, etc., are copyrighted whether or not there is a copyright notice on the page.
