Experience the KTeV Adventure

Ever thought what KTeV is all about? Do you know what KTeV means? What is going on inside those blue walls? You will be surprised! What would you say, if you were told the purpose of this experiment is to determine how the universe was created? To investigate this phenomenon, the physicists are studying something smaller than an atom!

You will view the instruments that the physicists use for the KTeV experiment. Each picture will have an explanation, so you can get a better understanding of the whole process of this wonderful and exciting experiment.

The tour will start from the main injector and end at the muon filters. There are plenty of pictures to view. So, sit back and enjoy your adventure into the world of KTeV.

Where does it all start? The physicists do not just open up an atom and investigate. Unlike the biologist that will dissect an animal to view its internal organs, physicists have to accelerate a proton to a certain speed, so that they can investigate the particles inside the proton. They have to accelerate the proton to a very high speed. This is the purpose of the main accelerator, or the Tevatron!

To fully understand the background of KTeV, I have set up some sites that will give you some basic information about the project. It is a good idea to read this section first before viewing the pictures. Knowing what KTeV is all about will give you a better perspective in viewing the pictures.

Each picture will show you the path that is taken from the proton beam into the KTeV project. The pictures will have an explanation of the purpose of each of the instruments shown.
