Mischievious and malevolent English spirits that live in the darkness under the bed, in the closet, at the back of the cupboard. They are related to but much more troublesome than brownies, bugaboos, and bogeys. They can be recognized when an unusual number of mishaps occur in a house and are difficult to eliminate except by moving away.
