This book follows the hard voyage of the pilgrims across the Atlantic through the first bad winter, to their first thanksgiving feast. You can learn about their first year through pictures and words.
 

    Kendel, Russ. Samuel Eaton's Day. (1996) Scohlastic
 
 

Samuel came over on the Mayflower as a "sucking child." Samuel's mother died the first winter they were there. You learn about Samuel's day as a    pilgrim child.

A description of the first Thanksgiving. This book describes the landscape, how the pilgrims came to America, and the people. This book also describes the first feast with the Indians.

Follows the life of Issaac and Mary Alberston, and Bartholomew. It    follows the lives of these children, how they lived on the boat, had fun, and got in trouble. It talks about how three got on the Mayflower.

This is a book of poetry that looks at America's past. It has poems about the Thanksgiving holiday, and is humorous. There are a variety of poets that wrote for it.

                       Jackson, Dave. The Mayflower Secret. (1998) Barbour and Company
 
 

This is a book about a girl named Elizabeth, who has been waiting for the Mayflower to set sail for months. With the late start there is certain death and sickness to come. Elizabeth befriended William Bradford's wife, then one day she disappears and blames Elizabeth for it. She knows the truth, but is scared to tell William.
 


                        Reece, Colleen . The Mayflower Adventure. (2001) Bethany House

  John travels on the Mayflower to come to America, to try to start a new life. There is also another character, Sarah who is hardworking and brave. This book shows two different perspectives of the two children.
 
 

      Waters, Kate. On the Mayflower: A voyage of the Ship's Apprentice,    and a Passenger Girl.(1999). Scholastic trade.
 
 

Two young people befriend each other and this is their story. They befriend each other on the Mayflower. The two friends are Ellen Moore and William Small. This book follows their journey from their different perspectives.

This book is a description of what the colony was like. It describes the housing, furnishings, clothing, family relationships, how children were    raised, and the daily chores.

This is a biography that covers William Brewster's life from Scrooby manor at Cambridge, employment by William Davidson a diplomat for Queen Elizabeth, then his life in Plymouth Colony and how hard it was.

This is a work of fiction. It is a famous poem, and this is just a portion of    how Plymouth was. It is a literary work that works well with a Pilgrim unit.

  Josselyn, John. New England's Rarities Discovered. (1986) Apple Wood Books
 
 

  This book was written in 1663, the first published in 1672. It describes the    animals and plant life, medicine, Native Americans, and other descriptions    and observations made by John made in early New England.
 
 

    Written the Pilgrims. Mourt's Relation: A Journal of the Pilgrims at Plymouth. (1986) Applewood Books
 
 

Written by the pilgrims during their first year at Plymouth. It describes the    many adventures and explorations made by the Pilgrims from November,    1620 until December 1621, spanning the time from their arrival until the    first thanksgiving.
 
 

      William Bradford. Of Plymouth Plantation, by William Bradford. (1981) Mcgraw-Hill
 
 

Written by the governor himself from about 1630 until 1654. It is a history    of the Pilgrims in England, Holland, and America. It describes what went    on during that 25 year period and how their lives were.
