Dragons possess awesome physical powers including the ability to fly, fire-breathing, alert shrewdness, and keen visions. Dragons are guardians of all kinds of treasures, but they generally do not pester humans unless provoked. If annoyed, they will torch villages and eat humans. Oriental dragons are different than European dragons: they do not fly, involve themselves obtrusively in thevaffairs of men and the cosmos. They also are associated with water and air, mate mid-air, supervise various aspects of human exist, such as the fertility of the land, music, literature, and function more like gods than wild beasts.
