Although the Department of Kinesiology has a relatively short history in its present structure, we have been part of the Elmhurst College family since 1925. The department's rich history of scholarship, teacher preparation and service has laid a strong foundation for an exciting future in the twenty-first century.

The Department of Kinesiology is a unique entity at Elmhurst College, and is charged with the responsibility of preparing scholars, teaching practitioners, and coaches who will contribute to the knowledge and understanding of human behavior within the context of physical activity, exercise and fitness, and health education.

The Department of Kinesiology is committed to extending and enhancing the academic and physical skills of its undergraduate students by offering curricula experiences consistent with contemporary knowledge and practices. The department strives to prepare highly qualified students, and invests its energies in developing and maintaining programs of excellence. Programs within the undergraduate curriculum lead to either the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Approximately one hundred undergraduate students are enrolled in the Department of Kinesiology at Elmhurst College.
