Elmhurst University Summer Band Camp

- Open to all students completing grades 8–12
- Instructed by Elmhurst’s outstanding music faculty
The 2024 Elmhurst University Summer Band Camp is an intensive, one-week music performance camp for high school students that includes master classes, technique classes, chamber music, sectional rehearsals and large ensemble rehearsals. The camp culminates with a final performance. Evenings are reserved for recreation and organized activities.

Application Form
The application form may be submitted now through May 19, 2023. Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a first-come, first-served basis pending receipt of an initial deposit of $150. Applications will remain open until individual sections are filled, at which time a waiting list will be initiated.
Tuition
- Resident: $650 (includes all instruction, lodging, meals and camp T-shirt)
- Commuter: $450 (includes all instruction, daily lunch and camp T-shirt)
Scholarships
A $50 scholarship is available to students who were selected to one of the ILMEA District performance organizations. An additional $50 scholarship is available to students who participated in one of this year’s ILMEA All-State performance organizations.
Daily Schedule
Although schedules may vary slightly from day to day, the following is the basic daily schedule.
- 7:00 a.m. Breakfast
- 8:00–8:50 a.m. Technique Class/Master Class
- 9:00–9:50 a.m. Chamber Music
- 10:00 a.m.–11:50 a.m. Rehearsal
- Noon Lunch
- 1:00 p.m.–1:50 p.m. Elective Class
- 2:00–2:50 p.m. Sectional Rehearsal
- 3:00–4:40 p.m. Rehearsal
- 5:00 p.m. Dinner
- 7:00 p.m. Recreation/Evening Activity
Placement Auditions
Each student will be asked to perform a brief audition upon check-in on the first day. Auditions will serve the purpose of placement into the Symphonic Band or Concert Band. Both bands will have identical instrumentation with music selected appropriate to the ability level of each ensemble.

Housing and Meals
Students will be housed in Cureton Residence Hall on the Elmhurst University campus. Cureton Hall is air-conditioned and within a one-minute walk to instructional facilities and the campus cafeteria. Students will share a room with another student based on age. Roommate requests may be made but will only be accepted if the request is mutual.
The main café in the Frick Student Center is Elmhurst University’s primary food service facility. A wide assortment of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner is available, including made-to-order items, custom pizzas and desserts. For students with dietary preferences or restrictions, our food service will help accommodate your needs.
