The Muslim cultural studies area of study within the intercultural studies major or minor is aimed at engaging students in critical analysis of historic and contemporary issues within the Muslim culture.

For the major in intercultural studies with a focus in Muslim cultural studies, choose three of the following in addition to the rest of the major requirements. As part of the requirements for the minor in intercultural studies, students enroll in two of the following courses:

• HIS 204 History of the Middle East
• REL 242 Issues in Islam: Gender, Politics and Human Rights
• REL 244 Understanding the Qur’an
• REL 343 Islamic Mysticism and the Poetry of Rumi
