Dr. Weyer has an extensive background in nursing including roles as an advanced practice nurse in hospital and ambulatory settings and as faculty in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. She is a certified clinical specialist in psychiatric-mental health nursing with teaching experience in mental health, community/population health, nursing concepts /theories, professional role and clinical leadership.

Dr. Weyer also holds certification as a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL).  Areas of interest include health promotion, curriculum assessment, development of educational strategies to foster scholarship and clinical leadership in baccalaureate and master’s nursing students.  She is a trained On-Site Evaluator for Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

As a tenured professor, she has served as Chair of Division of Social Sciences and member of Academic Council. Dr. Weyer is a recipient of the Elmhurst College President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and a recipient of Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) Nurse Educator Fellowship. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, American Psychiatric Nurses Association and Clinical Nurse Leader Association.
