Homecoming Parking and Tailgating Information

We are looking forward to welcoming you to campus for Homecoming! Homecoming is an exciting time on campus, and many of our current and former students, faculty, staff and alumni return to campus for this special occasion. In an effort to keep Homecoming a fun and positive experience for everyone, we ask that anyone who is planning to attend Homecoming familiarize themselves with these important parking and tailgating reminders and our detailed parking map. This will help ensure Homecoming is enjoyable for all of our guests.

In preparation for the Elmhurst College Homecoming events and football game festivities, the following areas will be closed for through-traffic or parking.

Friday Evening

  • Alexander parking lot will be closed at 10:00 p.m.; all vehicles will need to vacate the lot. Any vehicles in the lot after 10:00 p.m. may be cited and owners contacted for immediate removal.
  • Goebel Hall parking lot will close to parking and through-traffic at midnight in preparation for the resident parking.
  • Lehmann Hall parking lot will close at midnight in preparation for tent/booth setups for Homecoming.

Saturday

  • Alexander parking lot will open at 7:30 a.m. The only open entrances will be off Walter Street.
  • Alexander Street, from Prospect Avenue to Myrtle Avenue, will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

A detailed parking map is available and it shows parking areas located near Elmhurst College that are available, reserved and restricted, as well as remote parking, which is at York High School (shuttle service provided). The map contains a key and color-coded areas, which allow you to click on each area for more information. It is our hope that this map will assist you in planning where to park. As parking lots become full, Campus Security will place “Lot Full” signs at the entrances. Please do not bypass any barricades or cones in parking lots or roadways.

Welcome to Elmhurst College! Visiting team fans may utilize the Mill Theatre parking lot, which is available for both parking and tailgating during the Homecoming event and is a short walk to the stadium. Please view this map for real-time information parking locations, as well as the “Visiting Team Parking and Tailgating Area” location. The lot will open at 7:30 a.m. and there is open general and public parking available within adjoining locations. Please abide by all posted parking regulations on any public/city parking lots, spaces and streets. Parking enforcement is controlled by the City of Elmhurst. Campus Security can be contacted at (630) 617-3000 for more information or any concerns during your visit.

Tailgating is allowed in the designated tailgating areas. Those areas are the west end of the Alexander parking lot for the Bluejay fans, and the Mill Theatre parking lot for visiting team fans. We request that all tailgating activities are concluded within two hours of the Homecoming football game’s conclusion, at which time the parking lot will be cleared and closed.

Large tailgating activities should remain in the designated tailgating areas in the Alexander and Mill Theatre parking lots. Local City of Elmhurst ordinance prohibits the open possession and consumption of alcohol on public property, including public sidewalks and roadways.

Food trucks, games, entertainment, fun, alumni and friends will be coming together at the Bluejay Block Party, taking place on Alexander Boulevard. The street will be closed to traffic and everyone is encouraged to participate in the festivities. The block party starts at 11:00 a.m. and continues until the start of the football game.

The Bill Fraccaro Alumni Hospitality Tent is located at Langhorst Field, sponsored by the Elmhurst College Alumni Association—all are welcome!

Alumni and friends are welcome to visit Bill’s Hospitality Tent throughout the football game and enjoy chili, beer, wine, soft drinks and good company, while cheering the Bluejay’s on to victory!

*All beer and wine sales will conclude at the end of the third quarter.

Campus policy, as well as local and state laws, prohibit alcohol possession and consumption by persons under 21 years of age. We kindly request that all guests and Homecoming attendees obey the laws for consumption and possession of alcoholic beverages. Alcohol possession and consumption is permitted within the designated tailgate areas for guests who are 21 years of age and older. For the safety of all guests and attendees, kegs, glass bottles, glass containers and drinking games are not permitted. Possession and/or consumption of alcohol on public sidewalks or roadways may be subject to enforcement action by the Elmhurst Police Department.

Charcoal and gas grills are permitted, but must be safely monitored and maintained while in use. The College will provide clearly marked containers for disposal of hot coals only. Please ensure that grills are a safe distance from people and items that may be damaged by their use. Coals are to be completely extinguished and doused with water before being deposited into appropriate receptacles. Children should be monitored and kept a safe distance from any active grills.

Recreational vehicles and campers are welcome, but are requested to park in a manner that minimizes the use of parking spaces. Overnight RV/camper parking and sleeping is not permitted without advanced approval from the executive director of Campus Security. RVs/campers must park in the Alexander parking lot upon opening on Saturday morning. RVs/campers and larger vehicles must not occupy more than two parking spaces, with one additional space for tailgating only.

Elmhurst College encourages healthy and safe activities during your tailgating event. Entertainment systems, radios, televisions and games are encouraged. We respectfully request that care and consideration be given to other attendees by ensuring your activities are a safe distance from other people’s vehicles and property. Games that involve the use of alcohol are strictly prohibited by College policy.

Music and sound systems should be kept at a volume that does not impact the positive and enjoyable experience for other attendees nearby. Please ensure that music and games are organized, safe and respectful to other attendees.

Welcome back Bluejays! For your convenience, the Alexander parking lot has been designated at the official parking and tailgate location for all Bluejay fans! The parking lot will open at 7:30 a.m. and it will have two entrances, located at on Walter Street. Additional parking locations are:

  • 103 Myrtle parking lot
  • All college-controlled parking spaces beside the train tracks
  • All city-owned parking spaces beside the train tracks
  • Brune Tennis Courts parking areas
  • All city parking deck/garages (First Street, Addison Street and Adelaide Street parking decks)
  • Walter Street (Please note: There is a six hour limit on this street.)
  • Any city streets where parking is permitted (Please abide by posted parking regulation signs)
  • Tyrrell Fitness Center parking lot
  • Faganel Hall parking spaces, located on the north side of the building, off West Park Avenue
  • York High School (shuttle service provided), located at 355 W. St. Charles Road, Elmhurst

We are honored to have you in attendance. For your convenience, we have arranged parking at one of our remote parking areas, located at St. Peter’s Church of Christ at 125 West Church Street and South Cottage Hill Avenue. Please utilize the north and west parking lots. There will be an Elmhurst College shuttle providing transportation for you back to campus. There will be a designated shuttle stop at that location. Please see this map for the parking lot and shuttle stop locations.

Student residential parking is available in the parking lots located east of West Hall, the south side of Dinkmeyer and Memorial Halls, and the Schiable Science Center parking lots on the south side of campus. The Mill Theatre parking lot may also be used for parking. Overnight parking will be allowed for the Schiable Science Center and Goebel Hall parking lots on Friday and Saturday nights of Homecoming weekend only. All vehicles will need to be removed from the Schiable Science Center and Goebel Hall lots by Sunday evening at 10:00 pm.

College employees, staff and Homecoming volunteers are requested to park in the First Street Parking Deck on First Street, east of South Prospect Avenue or at York High School. Please look for the “Public Parking—First Street Parking Deck.”

If you need assistance at any time before, during or after Homecoming activities, or in the unlikely event that you are experiencing issues with anyone who is not in compliance with these guidelines, please contact Campus Security at (630) 617-3000 for immediate assistance.

Your cooperation and adherence to these established guidelines will ensure this year’s Homecoming will be a fun and memorable experience for everyone. Elmhurst College Campus Security will be on hand to assist our guests with emergencies and to monitor for any issues or concerns. Campus Security will address any disorderly behavior, public intoxication and underage drinking. Campus Security may also be contacted for any first aid concerns. All emergencies should contact 911 for emergency police, fire or emergency medical response.
