Dear Elmhurst University Community:

The following is a brief update regarding COVID-19 on the Elmhurst University campus.

  • Testing:
    • January 25, 2021: 44 individuals tested using the rapid test, 1 positive
    • January 26, 2021: 58 individuals tested using the PCR test, 3 positives
    • January 27, 2021: 44 individuals tested using the saliva test, 0 positives
    • January 28, 2021: 40 individuals tested using the PCR test, 0 positive
    • Total positive cases from on-campus testing for the month of January: 9
    • Total positive cases from on-campus testing, plus those reported from off-campus testing for the month of January: 25

The COVID-19 Task Force is pleased to welcome faculty, staff, and students back to campus for the start of the Spring Term. The following are important reminders to help keep us all safe and healthy.

  • DuPage County has moved to Tier 1 under the State of Illinois Mitigation Plan (Restore Illinois). Gatherings are limited to 25 people or 25% of room capacity, whichever is lower. DuPage County currently has a positivity rate of 7.2%. On January 16, 2021, the positivity rate for DuPage County was 8.2%.
  • Elmhurst University remains at our Yellow Alert level.
  • Registration for a vaccine in DuPage County is open. You may register on the DuPage County Health Department website.
  • Remember to wear your mask, keep six feet of physical distance, wash your hands often, and use hand sanitizer.
  • Reminder: Food and drink are not allowed in Founders Lounge until further notice. Additionally, food and drink are not allowed in the library, lounge spaces in the residence halls, and the lounges in Circle Hall.
  • Random COVID-19 testing for residential and commuter students will begin next week.
  • Faculty and staff are always welcome to get a COVID-19 test on campus. Please watch your email for weekly updates regarding registration, or contact Peggy Scheu at scheup@elmhurst.edu for more information.
  • Elmhurst University has not been provided with information regarding our phase eligibility for the vaccine. We urge you to register with the DuPage County Health Department and check with your doctor.
