Safety Services and Programs
A Focus on Crime Prevention
We’re dedicated to providing a safe experience for the entire Elmhurst College campus community.
The Office of Campus Security is available 24/7 all year long. Our trained personnel in the Campus Security Dispatch Center answer calls, provide information and coordinate officer response, while our experienced Campus Security Officers patrol the campus, provide safety escorts and respond to calls for service, including emergency and non-emergency situations.
We protect the safety of campus through a variety of services. Here are just a few.
If you feel unsafe walking on campus, call Campus Security at (630) 617-3000 or ext. 3000 from any campus phone, and we’ll send a safety escort to walk with you. This service is available 24/7 to students, faculty and staff.
Emergency Blue Light Phones
Emergency phones are programmed to automatically dial Campus Security. Just press the red button, and a campus security officer will be dispatched to your location. Blue light phones are located in the Alexander, Mill Theatre, West Hall and Science Center parking lots.
Campus Security educates the campus community on safety issues through several channels, including:
- Crime-prevention publications, literature and materials
- Self-defense training sessions
- Training sessions on alcohol and drug awareness
- Presentations to Elmhurst College organizations, departments and groups on a variety of safety and crime-prevention topics
- Alerts and reporting about criminal activity in the area
Safety and security on our campus is a cooperative effort. You can do your part by taking a few simple steps to protect yourself and your belongings. Watch for suspicious activity and report it immediately to Campus Security at (630) 617-3000 or ext. 3000 from any campus phone.
