Summer Research Opportunities

Beginning in the summer of 2020, the PUMA-STEM Alliance and LSAMP Program will provide summer research experiences in STEM disciplines.

To be eligible for the summer research experiences, applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, currently enrolled for classes at a PUMA-STEM LSAMP Institution, and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline. Preferential consideration will be given to undergraduate students who identify as a member of a historically underrepresented racial and ethnic minority group as defined by the National Science Foundation LSAMP Program (African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders). All students are welcome to apply.

The eight-week summer program will involve weekly meetings of research students and faculty from all institutions and will rotate among the institutions to build a community of research scholars. Participating students will experience high-quality scientific research, build identity as scientists, learn about STEM graduate programs, and gain STEM career development and professional skills.
