Musicianship for Children and Piano Academy

Musicianship for Children

Musicianship for Children offers a variety of musical experiences for young children. The curriculum is built upon the educational foundations of Orff Schulwerk and Dalcroze Eurhythmics. Music is first presented through songs, movement and improvisation. As ear-training is established, music reading is introduced. Glockenspiel, xylophone, and various unpitched instruments are used, as well as children’s literature and basic dance techniques. Classes are formed by age and musical experience, with an average class size of 10 students. In the Elmhurst University program, students who start in the Musicianship series continue into the Piano Academy.

Please note: To ensure that class size and age/experience requirements are met, the consent of the instructor, Janet Moser, is required for all Musicianship and Piano Academy classes. Completion of the registration form does not guarantee placement.

Demonstrations take place three times per year:

  • Early January, for 15-week Spring Term
  • May, for six-week Summer Term
  • Late August, for 15-week Fall Term
