Summer 2026 Announcements

2026-2027 Student/Alumni Applicant Information

If you are a student or alumni planning on applying to law school this year, please take some time this summer to go through the following steps:

  1. Research the field, there is a plethora of credible sites on the web where you can find more information about the career path that you think you might be interested in. Research “what is law school like” to make sure you have an idea of what you are getting into. And finally, research the steps to applying to law school.
  2. Once you have done some basic research and you are sure that you want to pursue this path, you should be sure to register with the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), and add Elmhurst University as your undergraduate institution.
  3. Begin researching the LSAT, decide on a test date – August, September or October are the suggested dates to aim for, and then research options and decide on your LSAT study method. More resources can be found here.
  4. Research law schools (and also here), create a list of schools that you might be interested in and begin thinking about the admission requirements of each school that you are considering.

Once you have done all these things, please reach out to the Pre-Law Advisor in August to sit down for a one-on-one meeting to go over your law school plans.

RETURNING TO IN-PERSON LSAT TESTING AS THE STANDARD METHOD

Registration is now open for all 2026-2027 LSAT administrations, this includes the August 2026 through the June 2027 LSAT.

As was announced in February, LSAC will be requiring in-person testing for the LSAT, starting with the August 2026 test, with only limited exceptions for test takers who live far away from a testing center as well as certain medical- or disability-related accommodations. All test takers approved for the remote exception will be subject to heightened security measures and real-time human proctoring.

Once registered for an LSAT administration, test takers will be able to apply for a remote testing exception and submit all their documentation through JD Services. For more information, visit LSAT Remote Testing and Distance Exceptions.

With the return to in-person testing, it will be important for students to register as soon as they know they want to take a particular LSAT date.  Test takers will be assigned a scheduling window based on the order in which they register for each administration. This assignment will be done on a “first to register, first to schedule” basis for each LSAT administration.

A detailed breakdown of all the information related to the return to in-person testing can be found on the LSAC website.

Scholarship Opportunities

Looking for private scholarships for law school can be a time-consuming undertaking, so take advantage of your extra time this summer and peruse the available scholarship databases.

  • LSAC has a listing of scholarships for students going to law school.
  • AccessLex has a searchable database of scholarships available for aspiring and rising law students.
  • Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law also has a listing of various types of private scholarships for students going to law school.

Every scholarship will not be applicable for every student and application requirements and submission deadlines will vary, so please be sure to read the information provided by each individual scholarship program.
