A ten-year-old girl loves her china rabbit, Edward Tulane, though truly, he doesn’t much care about anything but himself. Headed for a family adventure, Edward is lost at sea, beginning an even more important journey. As a toy rabbit who cannot speak and cannot move, he finds himself in new situations, and despite himself learns powerful lessons about life. Edward experiences love, then loss and grief and despair. Based on the award-winning book by Kate DiCamillo, the play invites us on the journey with Edward. “Open your heart,” Edward is counselled; “Someone will come. But first, you must open your heart.”

CONTENT ADVISORY: Please note that this play includes the death of a character, some acts of physical violence, and themes of grief and loss. Families will know their young person best when talking to them about these topics. We highly recommend checking DiCamillo’s book out of your public library.
