Dr. Hazen is an Assistant Professor of Political Science who teaches classes on World Politics. His research broadly addresses Comparative Politics and International Relations, and he focuses on topics such as civil-military relations, authoritarianism, democratization, international organizations, social movements, and Middle East Politics. His current research examines military responses to domestic protests and elite configurations during military coups. His work has been published in Democracy & Security, Journal of Political Science Education, and The National Strategy Forum Review.
