Our Bluejay Alumni Virtual Book Club event is back, providing another opportunity to learn and grow together at Elmhurst University through a book that aligns with the Actions Speak Louder Than Words Challenge.

Our conversation around diversity, equity, and inclusion continues in our next club pick: “How the Word Is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America” by Clint Smith. The book is a thoughtfully researched tour of historic U.S. monuments and landmarks, digging into the history they present to the public to better understand the legacy of slavery and its impact on our collective history.

Sponsored by the Alumni Association Board of Directors, our discussion will be led by Dr. Mary Kay Mulvaney, director of the Honors Program and professor of English, and Elmhurst University Alumna and Executive Vice President of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, Shannon Dale ’11.

This event is complimentary to all alumni. All you need to do is pick up your own copy of “How the Word Is Passed” and read at your own pace. Then, join us via Zoom and prepare for a thoughtful discussion of the reading with your fellow alumni.

Online registration has now closed, however, please feel free to join us this evening on Zoom for a robust and engaging discussion.
