Art reveals values. It clarifies and communicates the ideas, personalities and events that are significant to us individually and as a society. Making art is a natural expression of a culture through individual creative acts. At Elmhurst College, art students develop a deeper understanding of our times, our world, and our selves by studying the language of visual forms. In a comfortable, small-college environment, our students experience the joy of creativity in close collaboration with professionally active faculty.

Art students at Elmhurst have plenty of opportunities to display their work and to gain work experience. In addition to taking on a variety of internships, students design MiddleWestern Voice, our art, music and literary journal and The Leader, the College’s award-winning student newspaper.

At Elmhurst College, we know that art emerges in spontaneous, creative moments juggled out of sometimes-hectic schedules. That’s why our modern, well-equipped art studios are open seven days a week, day and night. We consistently update our networked electronic studio with the latest in computer technology. Our students find careers in graphic design, web site design, as art teachers or as art directors with corporations. Many go on to graduate school.
