Workshops and Forums

The Center for Scholarship and Teaching facilitates and sponsors a number of initiatives related to enhancing learning and communicating scholarly research with the Elmhurst University community.

Research and Performance Showcase

Each May, Elmhurst University hosts the Research and Performance Showcase, an event celebrating the academic achievements of our students in the areas of research, scholarship and creative work. Featuring posters, oral presentations, artwork and performances, the Showcase brings together students and faculty across campus.

CST offers Showcase Grants for faculty-student collaborations occurring during the academic year. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis, and awards of up to $500 per faculty member are possible. Past recipients have used grants for software, copying expenses, small equipment, travel to archives, and office and scientific supplies.

Research and Teaching Forum

The Faculty Research Forum is an opportunity for Elmhurst faculty members to share their recent teaching, research, scholarship and creative work with their colleagues. The forum is held once per term and features a series of short presentations from several faculty members. The forum is sponsored by Academic Affairs and the CST. If you are interested in participating, contact the CST.

Faculty Women

Faculty Women hosts a periodic Symposium on Scholarship and Creative Work featuring presentations by women faculty members at Elmhurst.

ACCA Student Scholarship Symposium

Undergraduates at any of the 15 colleges and universities that are members of the Associated Colleges of the Chicago Area (ACCA) are eligible to present at the ACCA Student Scholarship Symposium. The symposium is held each spring. Elmhurst University hosted the event 2011–2014. The next annual ACCA Student Symposium will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Benedictine University.

ACCA Scholarship of Pedagogy Symposium

The Scholarship of Pedagogy Symposium brings faculty from the ACCA institutions together to exchange ideas about improving undergraduate teaching and learning. This is an excellent opportunity to share your scholarship on college teaching and learning. Elmhurst University hosted the event in the 2013–2016 academic years. The symposiums for 2019–2022 will be held at North Central College.
