Billy Huff, Ph.D., is director of the Center for Gender and Sexuality at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), a cultural center serving UIC’s LGBTQIA+ students, faculty and staff. Before joining the Center, Huff was a lecturer in the department of communication at University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, where he taught courses in social movement communication and gender communication. He is this year’s William R. Johnson lecturer. The lecture is named for 1968 Elmhurst alumnus Bill Johnson, the first openly gay person to be ordained by a mainline Christian denomination.
