During Elmhurst College’s Homecoming & Family Day festivities, the College will host the 10th Annual Alumni Art Exhibition in the one-of-a-kind Barbara A. Kieft Accelerator ArtSpace.
The opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Saturday, October 18, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Accelerator ArtSpace (200 block of West Park Avenue, Elmhurst).
The reception will be shared with alumni from the College’s Department of Physics, in order to celebrate the 41st “birthday” of the College’s vintage Kevatron particle accelerator, located in the Accelerator ArtSpace.
The reception and exhibition are free and the public is welcome.
The popular Alumni Art Exhibition features new works by Department of Art alumni. Generations of art graduates will display work in a wide variety of media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and graphic design.
“This year is special because it is the 10th anniversary of the Alumni Exhibition,” said Suellen Rocca, curator and director of exhibitions at Elmhurst College. “But I always look forward to the exhibition—it is a wonderful opportunity to see new art work by our alums, and to celebrate Homecoming and the birthday of the accelerator with the physics department.”
The 10th Annual Alumni Art Exhibition will run until Thursday, October 30. The Accelerator ArtSpace gallery is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon until 4:00 p.m.
The Alumni Art Exhibition is one of about a dozen art shows that Elmhurst College hosts each academic year in two campus venues. In addition, the College’s A.C. Buehler Library permanently houses the College’s unparalleled collection of Chicago Imagist and Abstractionist Art, which explores the vibrant, often outrageous, yet precisely crafted works of Chicago artists between 1950 and the present.
