The Elmhurst College Department of Art presents its annual Spring Student Exhibition, with art students displaying work in all media, including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design and digital art.
Artist Frank Trankina, an associate professor of art at Northern Illinois University, will serve as the distinguished juror for the exhibition. Cash prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, first place and second place.
“It is always very interesting to see the variety of work done by our students,” said Suellen Rocca, curator and director of exhibitions at Elmhurst College. “I also am very pleased to have Frank Trankina as the juror for the exhibition.”
Trankina has an MFA in painting and drawing from the School of the Art Institute. His work is widely exhibited nationally and internationally, including in Chicago and Japan. His work also currently is being featured in a four-person show at the Katzen Museum in Washington, D.C.
The Juried Spring Student Exhibition will run through Wednesday, April 9, in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center. The exhibition is free and open to the public. The Frick Center is open days and evenings. For more information, call (630) 617-3390.
