The Elmhurst College Department of Art’s annual Spring Student Exhibition will be a juried event for a second year, with art students displaying work in all media, including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design and digital art.
Artist Christopher Cannon, who teaches at the College of DuPage and the Illinois Institute of Art, will serve as the distinguished juror for the exhibition, which begins on Monday, April 1. Cash prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, first place and second place.
“Our first juried student exhibition was a great success, and I am looking forward to seeing the work that is selected for this show,” said Suellen Rocca, curator and director of exhibitions at Elmhurst College. “I also am very pleased to have Chris Cannon as the juror for the exhibition.”
Cannon’s academic degrees are in printmaking but his expertise is in screen printing. Cannon exhibits his work nationally and internationally at galleries, universities and alternative art spaces. Several of his works are included in permanent and private collections in the United States and abroad.
The Juried Spring Student Exhibition will run from Monday, April 1, through Thursday, April 11, in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center. An artists reception will be held on Wednesday, April 3, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Founders Lounge. Cannon will offer comments on the works beginning at 5:00 p.m. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. The Frick Center is open days and evenings.
