In today’s job market, seasoned professionals who are between jobs or who would like to pursue a career “next chapter” often face special challenges, including potential age bias.
On Thursday, November 5, Elmhurst College’s School for Professional Studies and the Career Transitions Center of Chicago (CTC) will present an Over 40 & Hired Workshop, Transitioning in Today’s Job Market, to help professionals gain hope and take charge.
CTC coach Anita Jenke will provide tips, strategies and real-life examples to give a competitive edge to those in career transition. Jenke will cover the use of informational interviews, positioning and outreach critical to all job seekers, and offer insights to help anyone in transition better position themselves for greater distinction and success.
The executive director of the Career Transitions Center of Chicago, Jenke has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit management, workforce development and fundraising. An avid volunteer for arts and community service organizations, Jenke has worked with and served on several nonprofit boards and is the recipient of the Illinois Career Development Association’s Advocacy Award for 2013.
Transitioning in Today’s Job Market will be held from 7:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, in the Frick Center on the Elmhurst College campus. This event is open to the public and includes a hot breakfast. Admission is $15 per person ($10 for Elmhurst College alumni).
