Elmhurst U. and COD Launch 2+2 Agreements in Digital Marketing Communication, Music Business

Elmhurst University and College of DuPage have launched two new 2+2 programs designed to help COD students transfer seamlessly to Elmhurst.

Developed for students who plan to major in digital marketing communication or music business, the programs allow students to earn an associate degree at COD and a bachelor’s degree from Elmhurst in just four years.

With the addition of the two new agreements, which launched on Nov. 1, Elmhurst now has a total of 24 2+2 agreements with COD for transfer students. Under the agreements, COD students can start planning their transition to Elmhurst as early as their first semester, by following an academic transfer plan designed for their particular area of study. The academic plan ensures a smooth transition, and students may transfer up to 70 hours of credit.

The 2+2 in Digital Marketing Communication (DMC) reflects the success of one of Elmhurst’s newer programs of study, which was launched in 2019 as part of the new Digital Media Program and already has become one of the University’s more popular majors.

“The DMC major offers a blend of strategy and skills for a range of careers in interactive marketing and social media management,” said Courtney Waite Miller, chair of the communication and media department. “This partnership offers COD students the opportunity to plan their coursework knowing that their degree can be completed within two years at Elmhurst.”

The new Music Business 2+2 has an academic plan connected to the associate of applied science degree at COD, making it the second version of a 2+2 in music business. The first 2+2 was based on COD students completing an associate of arts degree. The new agreement allows students to take a different pathway at COD before making the same seamless transition to completing coursework at Elmhurst. Music Business majors at Elmhurst prepare for careers in music and media, the recording industry, music products, live music components, production and more.

Kris Fay, dean of business and applied technology and interim dean for the arts, communication and hospitality divisions, said the new 2+2 agreements with Elmhurst are a welcome addition for students wanting to continue their education in these desirable fields.

“Elmhurst University has demonstrated once again their willingness to partner with College of DuPage to create relevant educational and career paths for our students,” she said. “The new 2+2 programs provide COD students with even more seamless transfer opportunities.”
