The acclaimed, award-winning Elmhurst College Jazz Band will record a CD live in the Mill Theatre on June 28 and 29, and the public is welcome.
The Jazz Band will be conducted by composer and producer Ryan Truesdell (founder of The Gil Evans Project), and will perform the music of renowned jazz musician, composer and arranger Bob Brookmeyer.
Under the direction of Doug Beach, the Elmhurst College Jazz Band has earned worldwide acclaim, with performances across Western and Eastern Europe, as well as in Indonesia, the Bahamas, Canada, and in festivals across the United States. In 2014, the Downbeat Magazine Student Music Awards named the Jazz Band the winning undergraduate college in the Large Jazz Ensemble category.
The live recording session/concert will take place over two nights, June 28 and 29. The start time on both nights is 7:30 p.m., and both performances will take place before an enthusiastic audience.
All are invited, and admission is free.
