Kathleen Arnold is director of the Refugee and Forced Migration graduate program at DePaul University. On Tuesday, April 14, she will present “Totalitarianism, Civil War and Courageous Change,” this year’s Niebuhr Lecture at Elmhurst University.
As a professor of political science, Arnold teaches courses on political theory, immigration law, human rights, and political development and political economy. She often works with students on justice-oriented projects and is engaged in grassroots activity in the Chicago area. She also serves as an expert witness in asylum cases. Professor Arnold is the author of six books, two encyclopedia projects, and several articles and essays.
The annual Niebuhr Lecture is Elmhurst University’s oldest lecture. It traditionally features theologians and religious scholars, and honors Elmhurst alumni Reinhold and H. Richard Niebuhr, widely considered to be among the foremost American theologians of the 20th century.
The Niebuhr Lecture “Totalitarianism, Civil War and Courageous Change” will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, in the Frick Center, Founders Lounge. Admission is free and all are welcome. To learn more, visit elmhurst.edu/Cultural.
