Elmhurst College announced on Monday that Cindy Gonya soon will join the College to serve as its vice president for business and finance.
Gonya currently is the associate vice president for budget, planning and analysis at Columbia College Chicago. She will begin her position at Elmhurst in early May.
“I was really drawn to Elmhurst’s reputation and commitment to serving students,” she said. “I also admire their core mission and values—particularly their commitment to social justice, which fits very closely with my own personal beliefs. And once I was on campus, I fell in love with the place.”
Elmhurst College President Troy D. VanAken said, “We are very impressed with her experience, professionalism and deep understanding of today’s highly competitive higher education environment. She will be a great fit for the College, and her many strengths will help us achieve our ambitious institutional goals.”
Gonya has worked as a financial executive in higher education for more than 30 years. Before joining Columbia College, she was the associate dean for administration and finance at the University of Illinois at Chicago College Of Dentistry. She also served in a number of high-level financial leadership positions in the Health Sciences Division of Loyola University of Chicago.
Gonya is a CPA who has a master’s degree in education and an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
