Faculty Panel to Discuss the Public Intellectual Life of Elmhurst U. on Sept. 12

Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel, Elmhurst UniversityOn Tuesday, Sept. 12, a panel of distinguished Elmhurst University faculty will consider the elements that contribute to and invigorate the University’s public intellectual life.

During their discussion, they will explore how Elmhurst’s public intellectual life—in particular, the University’s various intercultural, religious and endowed lectures—enhances the student experience and enriches the cultural life of the community beyond campus.

The faculty panelists are:

  • Josh VanArsdall, associate chair and associate professor in the Department of Psychology
  • Lawrence Brown, assistant professor in the Department of Business and Economics and director of the MBA Program
  • Mary Kay Mulvaney, professor of English and director of the Honors Program
  • Theresa Robinson, associate professor of education, director of the Noyce PRIDE STEM Teacher Scholars Program, and director of the Secondary Education Program
  • Katrina Sifferd, chair and professor in the Department of Philosophy and the Genevieve Staudt Endowed Chair

The moderators are Bruce King, vice president for equity and inclusion, and Dean Pribbenow, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty. This event is hosted by the Office of the Chaplain.

The Public Intellectual Life of Elmhurst University will take place at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in Schaible Science Center, Illinois Hall. Admission is free and all are welcome.
