Admission Requirements

The Elmhurst MBA is designed for business professionals who have completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Candidates must complete the following prerequisites:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Managerial Accounting
  • Business Finance

The prerequisite coursework can be fulfilled as part of the student’s undergraduate coursework, or transferred from another college or university. If a student has not previously taken this coursework the requirement may be fulfilled by completing the online MBA Prep 300 course. Upon program director approval, the course may be taken in conjunction with the first MBA course.

The prerequisite requirement is meant to prepare you for success throughout the program and is designed for those who have not taken accounting and/or finance courses. (Keep in mind that about 40% of our MBA students do not have undergraduate degrees or backgrounds in business—you can do this!)

MBA students should have at least three years of full-time professional business experience. The program coordinator will interview all candidates.

In lieu of a statement of purpose, applicants are asked to respond to one of the following questions:

  1. What are your career goals? How will an MBA help you achieve these goals?
  2. Describe one or two significant accomplishments, in the last five years, that you are most proud of and discuss why you view them as such.
  3. What will be your biggest challenge while earning your MBA?
