Graduate Certificates

Elmhurst College offers two graduate-level certificates in computer information systems.

Both programs can be completed either on-campus through hybrid learning or entirely online. Whether you choose to pursue application development or network administration, a certificate from Elmhurst will take you where you want to go.

The graduate certificate in application development utilizes existing application development courses from the Master of Science in Computer Information Technology degree and includes a project management.

Students who complete the five courses for credit will receive the Application Development Graduate Certificate or may complete the additional five courses required to complete the master’s degree in Computer Information Technology.

  • MIT 541 Human-Computer Interaction (UI/UX)
  • MIT 510 Database Management and Data Warehousing
  • MIT 543 Web Application Development
  • MIT 545 Mobile Application Development
  • MBA 509 IT Project Management

To complete the master’s degree, students must also complete MIT 550, MIT 561, MIT 562, MIT 567 and MIT 572.

Network Administration

The graduate certificate in network administration encompasses five courses from the Master of Science in Computer Information Technology degree.

Students who complete the five courses for credit will receive the Network Administration Graduate Certificate or may complete the additional five courses required to complete the master’s degree in Computer Information Technology.

  • MIT 561 Computer Network I
  • MIT 562 Computer Network II
  • MIT 565 Internetworking
  • MIT 550 Computer Security and Risk Management
  • MIT 567 Cloud Computing

To complete the master’s degree, students must also complete MBA 509, MIT 510, MIT 572, and two other electives.

Admission

To apply for the graduate certificate in application development or the graduate certificate in network administration, complete the application for graduate admission and follow the instructions for non-degree students. If you wish to complete the additional five courses to earn the master of science in computer information systems, you must apply following all of the admission requirements for the master’s degree program.
